In the summer of 2006, a series of outbreaks on cruise ships in European waters, caused by norovirus, led to ECDC’s participation in the outbreak investigation in collaboration with the EU-funded network DIVINE-NET, which is the European network for the prevention of emerging (food-borne) enteric viral infections.Latem 2006 r. szereg ognisk na statkach wycieczkowych na wodach europejskich wywołanych norowirusem doprowadził do udziału ECDC w badaniu ognisk we współpracy z finansowaną z funduszy UE siecią DIVINE-NET, która jest europejską siecią zapobiegania nowo pojawiającym się (przenoszonym przez żywność) wirusowym zapaleniem jelit.
Following this event, ECDC organised an expert consultation to review the current norovirusepidemiology in Europe to assess the actions needed to prevent and control future outbreaks in cruise ships, and to review the existing guidelines for prevention and control measures in cruise ships and other public settings.
