The overall aim of ECDC during a PHE is to minimize the impact of the crisis on EU citizens, by assisting the MS and the European Commission in their response activities.Het doel van het ECDC tijdens een incident die de volksgezondheid betreft (Public Health Event – PHE) is om de gevolgen van de crisis voor EU-burgers te beperken door de lidstaten en de Europese Commissie te ondersteunen tijdens hun bestrijdingsactiviteiten.

Considering the extent of these outbreaks, ECDC, in collaboration with the Latvian Public Health authorities, organised an expert consultation in Riga in November 2008, to share experience in response activities to the hepatitis A outbreaks, with a particular focus on vaccination.Gezien de omvang van deze uitbraken, organiseerde het ECDC in november 2008 in samenwerking met de Letse volksgezondheidsautoriteiten een raadpleging van deskundigen in Riga om ervaringen in bestrijdingsactiviteiten bij uitbraken van hepatitis A uit te wisselen, vooral wat betreft vaccinatie.
