One of the main tasks of health education is to inform about lifestyles and behaviours that prevent people from various diseases.Een van de voornaamste taken van gezondheidsvoorlichting is het verschaffen van informatie over leefstijlen en gedrag waarmee diverse ziekten te voorkomen zijn.
In this sense, health education aims to influence a person ’s knowledge, attitudes and behaviours connected to health in a positive way.Gezondheidsvoorlichting is er dan op gericht iemands kennis, opvattingen en gedrag op gezondheidsgebied op een positieve manier te beïnvloeden.
Initiatives can either focus on improving existing medical problems or preventative education (e.g. prevent people from acquiring various diseases or guide them on how to live with a disease), in any combination of planned learning activities.Initiatieven kunnen gericht zijn op verbetering van bestaande medische problemen of op preventieve voorlichting (bv. voorkomen dat mensen bepaalde ziekten oplopen of mensen helpen om met een ziekte te leven), in elke gewenste combinatie van geplande leeractiviteiten.
